Doubling of the number of public charging points in Drenthe

The number of public charging points for electric cars in Drenthe has more than doubled in a year. In January 2021 that number was 290, at the beginning of this year the counter stood at 587.

Most new charging points in Drenthe were installed in the municipality of Emmen last year: 103 in total. There was also a clear increase in Assen (47) and Hoogeveen (27). This is apparent from an analysis by comparison site Independer.

The Noordenveld municipality has the most public charging points per thousand households: four in total. That is much more than the provincial average of 1.3 per thousand households. Borger-Odoorn is at the bottom in this respect, with less than one public charging point per thousand households.

Despite the increase in the number of public charging points, according to the researchers, it is becoming increasingly crowded at the charging station. This is because the number of electric cars is still rising much faster than the number of charging points.
