At the Luge World Championships in Oberhof, Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken won the second gold in the doubles. The duo Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt was able to shine with silver despite mistakes.
At the home World Championships in Oberhof, the German tobogganers continue to do well. After gold in the sprint on Friday, Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken (Ilsenburg/Suhl) confidently raced to the next World Championship title in the doubles. “The key to our success today was that we made slightly fewer mistakes than the boys“said Eggert after the victory on ZDF. “The result stands, I’m happy for us“added Benecken after the second world title within two days.
Wendl/Arlt drive out of round to silver
Tobias Wendl/Tobias Arlt (+0.171 sec), third after the first round, botched the attack on gold in the second run with a faulty drive. However, they benefited in the final from the also weakening competitors from Austria.
The Austrians Yannick Müller/Armin Frauscher (+0.192), who were still second after the first run, also drove around the track, which is why the duo from Königssee was able to win silver in the end.
