Twan Huys gets an incredible wipe from Mark Koster. De Telegraaf’s media solumnist thinks he is talking as if the RTL Tonight viewer is stupid and can’t think of anything himself. “Idiot!”
Everyone knows that RTL Tonight can no longer be saved, but Peter van der Vorst is too proud to take it off the tube now. And that means that MediaCritics can be released on the program of Beau, Humberto and Renze for the time being. This time it is the turn of Telegraaf-MediaColumnists Mark Koster and Tina Nijkamp.
“It’s boring!”
Mark simply does not find RTL Tonight fascinating. “I think it’s pretty boring,” he says in the podcast The Media Week. “I spoke with some people. I came across someone – I will not mention the name – from the editors. I think that is so beautiful: it is a football team that plays very badly, and then keeps the spirit in it. It is good.”
Co-host Tina: “What did the person talk about quality?”
Mark: “Well, that they thought it was very good.”
Grandpa tells
Mark finds the experts poor. “I said,” But that Aboutaleb, isn’t that terrible? Isn’t that a kind of “grandfather tells”? And you can’t actually break into him at all. ” “No, but it’s such a charming nice man!” But then you don’t look good anymore.
Tina: “Yes, but that is always with such editors. I understand that too. You want to keep it well together.”
Mark: “Yes, but then someone has to say,” Boys, this is a mess. “
Mess
Tina thinks that should come from outside the editors. “Yes, Peter van der Vorst must say that, but he probably thinks it was very good. That is the problem: they think it is very good.”
RTL Tonight is led by Carlo van Lienden, who was recently set by Wilfred Genee. The VI-star read an e-mail in which he is condescending about the SBS 6 viewer (“He already has trouble reading the Donald Duck”). “I started to think about that and actually explains that the failure of RTL Tonight.”
In Amsterdam
Tina thinks it is condescending. “It is a common mistake of course with TV makers who often live in Amsterdam themselves or who are often pimping on terraces in Amsterdam after work. And where it goes wrong: if you think the SBS 6-viewer De Donald Duck is not reading, it will also have such a prejudice about the RTL 4 viewer.”
She continues: “That is that you disagree your viewers. Then you will find yourself better than the rest. Well, it goes wrong with RTL Tonight. It’s like a lecture hall. Then you listen to a professor who will tell you how the world works.”
“Twan is an idiot!”
Mark then comes with an example. “Yes, such a Twan Huys. I can also read the New York Times, Twan Huys! I can also watch Erica Kirk on YouTube. Don’t talk to me like you know better, idiot!”
Tina: “No, but that is also the whole design of that desk, and that audience is then the lecture hall. That is also literally right in return. And they will tell us how the world works.”
She concludes: “And that is what Carlo Van Lienden is doing wrong. He thought when he had a decor built: I’m going to make a lecture hall of it and we will tell you how the world works.”
