Matthijs van Nieuwkerk receives urgent advice from Evert Santegoeds not to sit on a talk show anymore to tell his story. “You’re not going to stir everything up again, are you?”

There was an interview in the newspaper and a pre-recorded interview with RTL Boulevard where he looked like a vulnerable bird, but Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has never live to be interrogated about the De Wereld Draait Door scandal. Will that still happen? Will we ever see him sitting with Eva Jinek again?

‘Don’t do it!’

Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden wonders. “I’m curious what Matthijs will do next, because he has just completed a summer tour of all those open-air theaters. Would he give another interview to see: dude, is there still a comeback?” he says in the podcast. Strictly Private.

Private boss Evert Santegoeds would advise against that. “Well, why? You’re not going to stir everything up again, are you? He gave an interview to the NRC at the time, that was a wonderful story, I was really impressed by it, and then he has to tell his story again on TV? Well, no, I wouldn’t do that.”

On the body

Matthijs better not force anything anymore, Evert thinks. It will come again at some point, he says. “If he enjoys going to the theater, something will happen again, even if it is a recording of the program he did there.”

He concludes: “At some point there is a program that makes someone think: hey, that seems like a perfect fit for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.”
