Donald Trump responds to “Kevin – Alone in New York” accusation

In a recent news story, Donald Trump addressed the claim that he made his brief guest appearance in “Kevin – Alone in New York” obtained through bullying. Director Chris Columbus said in a 2020 interview with “Business Insider,” that the cameo appearance in the 1992 film was due to the fact that he had to film in New York’s Plaza Hotel, which was owned by the then-entrepreneur and now ex-president himself.

“He forced his way into the film”

“We couldn’t recreate the Plaza in a movie studio,” Columbus says. “Trump agreed. We paid the fee, but he also said, ‘The only way I can use the hotel is when I’m in the movie.’ So we agreed to include him in the film.”

At the premiere of the film, the director says, it will be then “the strangest thing happens.” “People cheered when Trump appeared on the screen. “So I said to my editor, ‘Keep him in the film. It’s a moment for the audience.’ But he forced his way into the film.”

“This little cameo took off like a rocket and the film was a huge success”

Now the former US president has reacted to the director’s comment on his social media platform “Truth Social”. “Chris Columbus and others begged me to do a cameo in Home Alone 2… I was very busy and didn’t really want to do it,” Trump writes.

“They were very nice, but above all stubborn. I agreed and the rest is history! “That little cameo took off like a rocket and the film was a huge success… However, now, 30 years later, Columbus (what was his real name?) released a statement saying that I forced myself into the film,” added he added.

Trump sees himself as partly responsible for the success of the film. “Nothing could be further from the truth. That cameo contributed to the success of the film, but if they felt bullied or didn’t want me, why did they put me in and keep me there for over 30 years? Because I was and am great for the film, that’s why!”
