It is not without reason that the Bergisel in Innsbruck is considered the fateful mountain of the Four Hills Tournament. Ski jumping high-flyer Domen Prevc was warned in the qualification on Saturday.

Prevc couldn’t get past 112 meters with a strong tailwind. In addition, the Slovenian crashed roughly into the barriers as he ran out, but a few seconds later he waved at the TV camera again.

The overall World Cup leader in the Four Hills Tournament had to be content with 30th place. Prevc will meet in the knockout competition on Sunday (from 1:30 p.m. in sport.de-Live ticker) on the Frenchman Valentin Foubert.

Four Hills Tournament: Prevc with a clear lead

After his victories in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Prevc clearly leads the Four Hills Tournament with a 35-point lead over his first pursuer Jan Hörl (Austria). The 26-year-old is looking forward to a historic quadruple success on the tour. Only Sven Hannawald, Kamil Stoch and Ryoyu Kobayashi have achieved this in history.

Prevc actually feels comfortable on Bergisel. “I really like Innsbruck, but I have to stay focused, rest and prepare. I can’t rush anything. Even if the ski jump suits me, I have to approach things systematically and concentrate on my tasks so that we can experience another successful conclusion in Innsbruck and get off to a good start in Bischofshofen,” said this season’s dominant ski jumper in an interview with the Slovenian Ski Association.

German ski jumpers survive qualification

From a German perspective, the qualification in Innsbruck went best for Felix Hoffmann. The 28-year-old (123 meters) came fifth. Philipp Raimund (116.5 meters) had to be content with 17th place.

Pius Paschke (23rd), Karl Geiger (39th) and Andreas Wellinger (50th) are also there on Sunday.
