(toskanews) – A spectacular retrospective exhibition celebrates the genius of two of the greatest Italian stylists. Over 200 dresses, jewelery and suits made by Dolce&Gabbana are on display at the Grand Palais in Paris. The exhibition entitled From the Heart to the Hands accompanies visitors on a tour of ten rooms, a journey into the numerous religious and popular influences that inspired the creations of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The brand is a symbol of Italianness in the world, of high fashion which becomes a cultural phenomenon and an aesthetic point of reference.
The exhibition explores the designers’ unconventional approach characterized by elegance, sensuality and uniqueness, also embracing humour, irreverence and subversion. «The main inspiration for Dolce&Gabbana is Italy. It is a constant homage to the art, culture and history of Italy, and to its richness over the centuries. The clothes tell this story, and in the exhibition they are immersed in a setting that explains the sources of inspiration”, says the curator of the exhibition Florence Muller, adding that Dolce&Gabbana’s is a total art where everything is coherent: the clothes refer to furniture and vice versa”.
Both archival and new collections are displayed in a range of themes that include art, architecture, crafts, regional topographies, music, opera and ballet, folk traditions, theater and, of course, “la dolce vita”. The exhibition will remain open until March 31st.
