Dolce & Gabbana is the latest luxury label to go fur-free

Dolce & Gabbana is the latest luxury label to stop using fur in its products.

The Italian fashion house announced on Monday that it will no longer use real fur in its collections from 2022.

However, the company stated that it will continue to work with master furriers on a sustainable faux fur alternative that uses recycled and recyclable materials.

“Dolce & Gabbana is working towards a more sustainable future that cannot contemplate the use of real fur,” said Fedele Usai, the brand’s communications and marketing officer, in a statement.

The announcement comes just days after Moncler announced it was phasing out the use of fur in its products.

In the past year alone, a number of luxury fashion companies such as Kering, Neiman Marcus, Mytheresa, Canada Goose, Valentino and Oscar de la Renta have started going fur-free as consumer demand for animal-free alternatives continues to grow.

“The entire fashion system has an important role in social responsibility that needs to be promoted and supported: we will incorporate innovative materials into our collections and develop eco-friendly production processes, while preserving the jobs and know-how of the artisans , which otherwise are in danger of disappearing,” added Usai.
