Dog rescued from water after major action: “The animal was very tired, but seemed fine”

The coast guard launched a major relief effort this afternoon after a dog fell into the water at the North Pier near IJmuiden. The animal could no longer get onto land itself. Quick action by the KNRM and Greenpeace boats that were practicing nearby ensured that the animal could be saved.

Greenpeace was on the water for an exercise when they saw people waving violently from the side, a spokesperson for the organization said.

The dog was then rescued by someone from Greenpeace. “The animal was very tired, but seemed fine.”

The KNRM was also involved in the rescue operation. “When the dog was removed from the water, he was immediately wrapped in foil and handed over to his owner,” a spokesperson said.
