Right now is the great time to digest and wash the freezer. Defrosting and washing the freezer is a treat for a few, but it would still be wise to do that work if you want to save electricity and keep the freezer and its contents in order. The freezer should be thawed when a layer of frosting over half a centimeter has appeared on its walls and products.
