On November 25, 2023, Thomas Gottschalk will moderate “Wetten dass ..?” again. Whether the show recorded in Offenburg will be the last edition of the format that has become cult is still unclear. “We’ll calmly consider next year how things will continue after ’23,” said ZDF director Norbert Himmler of the “Deutsche Presse-Agentur”.
“Radiant power that is obviously still unbroken”
However, his further words give fans a quiet reason to hope that the show will continue beyond the coming year: “The show has a radiance that is obviously still unbroken. There is no other show that reaches so many viewers,” says the 51-year-old.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of “Wetten dass..?”, “ZDF” relaunched the TV classic as a one-time Saturday evening show with presenters Thomas Gottschalk and Michelle Hunziker in 2021. After phenomenal ratings, two more editions have been announced for 2022 and 2023. This year’s show on November 19 in Friedrichshafen was watched by around 10.4 million viewers, a year earlier even around 14 million people tuned in.
