The high performance of the 03 models has made young people reconsider their career choices.

The o3 artificial intelligence models announced by OpenAI have aroused despair among computer science students. Axios reports that many have pondered in social media discussions whether there is any point in studying the field after all.

In September, OpenAI released the o1 models intended for solving even more difficult problems. These artificial intelligence models, unlike the more usual extensive language models, are also able to reason on their own and excel especially in questions related to science, programming and mathematics. According to the company, the o3 models bring with them a significant upgrade in efficiency compared to the current o1 models.

03 mini was promised to be released in January and 03 later.

More recently, OpenAI says that the o3 models passed the performance test that tests mathematics at the level of industry experts and beat the result of the company’s best expert in coding.

President of Georgia Tech Pascal Van Hentenryck appeases students. He commented to Axios that you have to constantly build new things and that there is enough work. AI tools help get rid of tedious tasks and automate them, allowing people to focus on more sophisticated, higher-level tasks.

At the same time, OpenAI has challenges to make its products profitable. The company makes a loss with its subscription model aimed at power users, which costs up to $200.

CFO of artificial intelligence company Sarah Friar recently commented that the company is leaving the option open for a subscription model that costs $2,000 per month.
