Natasja and René Froger and their family are switching from TLC to RTL, but is it worth the investment? Is the channel bringing in two audience favorites or is that a bit disappointing?
The Froger family and RTL join forces. René, Natasja and the children can be seen in new programs on RTL 5 and Videoland in the coming years. “The viewer is preparing for a good dose of Amsterdam fun and heartfelt family adventures, because the family will share their lives with the rest of the Netherlands again later this year,” said RTL.
Hypocritical
The big question is: does the viewer think the same way? Do they see the Frogers as genuine and authentic? Well, the responses on NU.nl don’t lie. They are really almost all negative; very striking.
For example, one Milan says: “I think it’s just a hypocritical family that exudes supposed humanity on television, while in fact they only have one thing to do, namely to collect as much money as possible. In reality, they achieve nothing and mainly live on Froger’s fame as a folk singer and son of Bolle Jan.”
‘What are they doing?’
Piet does not understand this transfer. “I wonder every day that so much money is spent on so much nonsense. He is a singer and his wife occasionally presents a program and the rest just lag behind. What does Videoland get into?”
And Chris: “I think it feels especially good in the wallet. Definitely a completely unnecessary program that adds only 0.0.”
Stupid and boring
Isabel doesn’t feel like it. “What a horror this family is. Stupid and boring. Why would you watch it? You might as well visit your neighbors. Probably and hopefully that will be more fun and interesting!”
Henk: “Sometimes, just sometimes, we consider taking Videoland for a while. Such a moment is out of the question for the time being. We are happy with the announcements.”
Lots of energy
RTL content boss Wim ter Laak is enthusiastic. “With the Froger family we bring a lot of energy and authenticity into our home. The sincerity and humor of the family suits us well. We are happy to welcome this musical family and look forward to all the beautiful stories we will tell together in the coming years.”
And Natasja and René say on behalf of the entire family: “It is a great step for us to enter into this collaboration. We are an enterprising family and prefer to do everything together, so it feels very good that there will be plenty of room for this in the coming years at RTL and Videoland. We can’t wait to take the viewers into our lives again.”
