It is still not clear whether Monique Hansler and her slavish husband and son will return for a second season of their real-life soap on SBS 6. Is it a money issue? “I don’t know.”
The viewing figures of the Meilandjes have not yet been matched by all the successors that SBS 6 is trying out, but those of Monique Hansler and her remarkable family were anything but bad. Are Monique and her slavish son Mike and husband Peter ready for a sequel? Nothing is clear yet, not even from Talpa.
In the middle
It’s no secret that Monique is completely addicted to attention, so it seems like that family just… hard to get plays. What does Peter say about it? “As it stands now, it is a bit in the middle,” he says Weekend. “We still have to think about it. The channel probably wants it, given the viewing figures, which were good.”
He continues: “That’s logical. Just: what you just asked me, how am I doing? And certainly also with Monique… Monique must of course also have a say in it.”
Double wages
The Weekend also seems to suspect the Hanslers of mainly looking for more money. “Are you going to charge double the fee for a continuation of the series?” the magazine asks.
Peter then: “I don’t know. These are things for the negotiations, which of course we still have to conduct. So we will see.”
Whipout
If there is a sequel, it will certainly become more boring. Peter: “As Monique also says: ‘With what I know now, I would do things differently, of course.’ Like saying things less loudly. Monique is of course a talker. And that is something she will do less of in the future.”
“If there is ever a second series, she will think twice before she just throws things out again. But that’s how she is. And that will of course be greatly magnified.”
