Johan Derksen gives himself and his colleagues an 8 for the Curaçao broadcasts of Today Inside. He is a little less certain about how long he will continue with the program…

Johan Derksen is 77 years old. For most people that is an age when the agenda becomes thinner, but the VI mustache does it the other way around: five evenings a week at the table, all year round, with a summer in Curaçao as a bonus. It’s a pace that would exhaust many, let alone someone past retirement age.

How long will Johan stay?

So far, Johan has kept it up, but he is now also asking the question of how long it will remain that way. Because he doesn’t look far ahead, as appears when Wilfred Genee asks him about it in the column In The Walkways.

In any case, Johan is satisfied with how the Curaçao broadcasts went. What grade does he give it? “An 8. We didn’t make those bad broadcasts.”

Dutch level

René van der Gijp is also enthusiastic. “I think everyone gets a 9. They really had a great time.”

Johan: “We simply reached the Dutch level. The first broadcast took some getting used to.”

How was the relationship with the sponsor? “I have only had good experiences with Corendon. I got along very well with the boss, yes.”

Greed

Corendon was disappointed that Johan flew to Curaçao with KLM. “When I arrived he said to me, a bit pissed off: ‘You thought it was too bad, flying with Corendon?’”

How long will Johan continue to do all this? “As long as greed drives me to Hilversum. Look, at my age you can never look ahead. We still have a one-year contract and I don’t know where I will be after a year.”
