Doctors Pope Francis considered to stop his treatment: “We all had tears in our eyes”

Pope Franciscus (88) is back at home after a stay of five weeks at the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he was treated for a double pneumonia. In an interview with the Italian newspaper ‘Corriere della Sera’, his doctor Sergio Alfieri looks back on that period. He tells how the pope was so close to death that the doctors considered to stop his treatment.
