Brooke Shields’ autobiography will be published on January 14th – the memoir is a look back at the actress’ eventful life. In it, in keeping with the title “Brooke Shields is not allowed to get old – Thoughts on aging as a woman”, she reveals not only the beautiful moments of her career. The focus is on the Hollywood problem of “female devaluation” as they get older – it also describes private details that are said to have traumatized her.

An incident described in the book, which was published before the official release, is said to have occurred almost 20 years ago. Back then, Brooke Shields had cosmetic surgery at the age of 40. The actress reveals that she had her vulva lips reduced to alleviate health problems. However, the now 59-year-old explains that the doctor carried out another procedure on his own initiative. It was only during the follow-up examination that it was explained to her that the intimate area had also been tightened. “He told me that he had thrown in a little bonus,” said the “Blue Lagoon” actress. However, this was not agreed upon in the preliminary discussion.

Brooke Shields felt anger – and great shame

Today the actress remembers her feelings at the time: “It felt like an invasion – such a bizarre kind of rape. Nothing suggested beforehand that the skin should have been tighter, smaller, firmer or younger, especially not there.”

According to her own statements, the actress did not speak to anyone about the unwanted procedure for a long time – not even to her husband, the screenwriter Chris Henchy, to whom she has been married since 2001. She also refrained from suing the doctor – out of anger and shame. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t embarrassed to share this very confidential information.”

On April 3rd, the documentary “Brooke Shields: Pretty Baby” was released on the streaming service Hulu. The actress also gave interviews about this – including the fact that the biopic revealed for the first time that she was raped in her twenties. “I kept telling myself, ‘I shouldn’t have done that. Why did I go up with him? “I shouldn’t have drunk anything while eating.” She also remained silent at the time because she assumed that no one would believe her. “I thought I’d never be able to work again after that.”
