Dairy company Doc Cheese in Hoogeveen merged years ago with the German DMK Group, now there is a new merger in the pipeline. Dairy group DMK has announced that it would like to merge with Arla Foods, a Danish/Swedish dairy giant.
Due to the collaboration with DMK, DOC Kaas will also be part of this merger, if approved by the members of the cooperatives and the supervisors.
According to the companies, the largest dairy cooperative in Europe with more than 12,000 dairy farmers and a turnover of 19 billion euros are created in the merger. Guus Mensink, chairman of Doc Cheese, announced through a press release to be proud of the intended merger with Arla: “This merger strengthens the resilience of our cooperatives and plays an important role in further strengthening the competitiveness of our members. We can increase our assortment of dairy products and product innovations.”
If the merger continues, the company will be called Arla. The head office then comes to Aarhus, Danish. The companies work out the merger proposal and expect to be able to submit the merger agreement to the cooperatives in June.
Another large dairy company in the Netherlands is currently working on a merger. FrieslandCampina, including a branch in Beilen and Meppel, wants to merge with the Belgian dairy group Milcobel.
