Dobrindt sees Wissing as having a duty when it comes to bonus payments

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt has called on Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) to advocate for performance-related bonus payments in the management of the railway. Wissing has “the responsibility here to ensure that the bonuses of the railway board members develop in the direction of their performance and not the other way around,” said Dobrindt on Tuesday before a meeting of CDU/CSU MPs in Berlin.

Large corporations such as Deutsche Bahn will be able to pay out bonuses to their management in the new year due to the electricity price cap. With the end of the electricity price cap, the so-called bonus ban will no longer apply.

Green party leader Ricarda Lang described the bonus payments for Deutsche Bahn board members as inappropriate and unfair. “The bonuses at the railway may be legally legitimate, but I think they have absolutely nothing to do with justice,” she said.

For example, according to the annual report for 2022, Bahn CEO Richard Lutz will receive a bonus of more than 1.26 million euros. At the most recent supervisory board meeting in September, the railway decided on a new compensation system that is more focused on long-term success./lnt/DP/ngu
