Umbrella, Hot ‘n’ cold, Candy shop. All of these are not only well-known songs from the 2000s, but also hits that The Baseballs band transformed into a completely new form at the turn of the 2010s.
The German band, founded in Berlin in 2007, has its own style. The three-piece band makes new versions of well-known hit songs in the style of the 1950s.
The group was at its most popular at the turn of the 2010s and enjoyed great popularity then, especially in Finland.
– In Germany and its neighboring countries, we have done quite well, but the hype in Finland has been in a class of its own, the band commented in an interview with STT.
The band’s album also sold a commendable amount in Finland and was awarded the Emma award in 2009.
The Baseballs filled festival stages in Finland and rockabilly music was reflected in the style of the audience. Iltalehti interviewed the fans who came to see the band at Kotka Meripääi, who were dressed in fiftari style.
– This is music shared by at least two generations, fun, lively and harmless, fans commented to Iltalehte at the festival.
The band also performed in Finland Big Brother -house in November 2009. In the house, the band even spoke clear Finnish.
– Hello! the group shouted to the residents who rushed into the yard.
Umbrella-hit, the band called out the residents of the house in Finnish as well.
– Isn’t it cool? the band exclaimed.
The Baseballs have also recorded one Finnish band’s hit. Nylon Beat’s huge hit Last turned into shape in the hands of a German band Last in line.
The Baseballs’ journey continues – albeit with a slightly smaller lineup. A member of the group Digger left the band in 2023 to focus on other projects.
Now the band is two-person and the German tour is for the band Instagram account next spring.
