A long career
MacLaine started performing early. She started dance school at the age of two and has been performing since the age of four. After high school, MacLaine moved to New York to pursue a Broadway career.
MacLaine’s breakthrough came when he stepped up from the bench to the stage The Pajama Game –in a play where he caught the attention of producer Hal B. Wallis. After seeing MacLaine, Wallis hired him at Paramount Pictures.
MacLaine made her film debut in Alfred Hitchcock’s black comedy But… who murdered Harry? in 1955. She played its female lead in the film.
