Zé Roberto says that the secret of his iron nature is that he has continued to train in the same way as in his professional career.
Perhaps the effort is even harder these days, because he says his body fat percentage is six.
– I understood that my body is a machine and needs maintenance. Age is just a number for me, he says according to Marca.
Zé Roberto, who played into his forties, already realized years ago that high-quality recovery is needed to counterbalance hard training.
If the clubs didn’t have an ice bath, sauna or various massage equipment to offer, the former midfielder bought them with his own money.
Zé Roberto says he invests in a good night’s sleep and a healthy lifestyle.
– I have no vices. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t smoke, I eat very well and I sleep well. I have a family that is my greatest security. I think these are significant factors.
Party in Bayern
Zé Roberto originally came to Europe acquired by Real Madrid, but his career really took off in Bayer Leverkusen between 1998 and 2002.
After the disappointments experienced in the Bundesliga championship and the Champions final, he switched to Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga’s giant trophy cabinet was filled with four double championships.
In the Brazilian national team, the midfielder was involved in 84 matches. He scored six goals in them.
Zé Roberto played his last games for Palmeiras in 2017. He was hired by the club as a technical advisor, acting as a link between the coaching staff and the players.
