DJ Moore called it a “disappointment”.

The Chicago Bears investigated the causes after the 20:38 defeat against the Green Bay Packers. Afterwards, the NFL franchise’s weak offense was the focus of criticism. Even newcomer DJ Moore was not spared from these harsh words.

On Thursday, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy commented on the Bears’ poor NFL start in a media round. When asked about Moore’s performance, the former quarterback was more than clear.

“Definitely a disappointment,” Getsy didn’t mince his words and defended himself against the possible accusation of not having sufficiently integrated the wide receiver. “We definitely call plays for DJ and he knows that. He wasn’t frustrated about it.”

Moore only caught two balls for 25 yards in the entire game. Despite analysis, Getsy was unable to provide an exact reason for this. “There are many reasons why things like this happen. Sometimes the man coverage dictates where the quarterback has to throw the ball. Many things play a role,” emphasized the Bears OC.

The 39-year-old also described Moore as a “big part of the plan,” which is why the WR probably won’t have to face any consequences after his lackluster performance last weekend.

NFL: Justin Fields’ criticism wiped away

The same goes for Justin Fields. The play caller described the Bears’ offensive behavior as “conservative” on Wednesday and wanted more creativity in their attack. However, Luky Getsy did not want to overstate this criticism the following day.

“There were a few occasions where we tried to take a risk,” the offensive coordinator initially defended himself and then indicated that there is still sand in the gears at the start of the season. “It’s part of the process of getting to know each other and trusting each other. But we’ll get there.”
