“Discipline problem” suspected at FC Bayern

From 1989 to 1998, Dietmar Hamann wore the FC Bayern jersey as a youth and later as a professional. It is not known what today’s TV expert was guilty of doing off the field in Munich at the time. However, Hamann has found a clear reason why the German soccer record champion is currently once again the much-cited “FC Hollywood”.

He was German champion twice with FC Bayern and won the UEFA and DFB cups. In short: Dietmar Hamann knows the Munich team like the back of his hand from his playing days. The 49-year-old also knows all the more that the events at the German series champion are always observed very closely. And there have been quite a few of these in recent weeks, which Hamann has now brought together under a common and simple denominator:

“Bayern have a discipline problem,” emphasized the “Sky” expert in his column and immediately listed the source of the fire: “[Manuel] Neuer skis in the risk area, [Serge] Gnabry flies to the fashion show, [Leroy] Sané doesn’t care about punctuality and since last week the coach has also been in this illustrious circle of the undisciplined.”

Hamann was alluding to Julian Nagelsmann’s verbal lapse after the defeat in Gladbach (2:3), after which the head coach stormed into the referee’s cabin due to an early and controversial red card against his defender Dayot Upamecano and the referees followed as “softened pack” had insulted. This was followed by an apology and a hefty fine by the DFB.

“It’s poison for the team spirit” at FC Bayern

“The club has to get this under control and, above all, punish players who are often guilty of something,” warned Nagelsmann, referring to Sané’s misconduct, who is said to have repeatedly appeared late for training.

But Neuer’s negligent ski tour, during which he broke his shin and fibula, and Gnabry’s trip to Paris Fashion Week in the middle of an English week were also part of Hamann’s work: “Footballers quickly realize when they can do everything they can in the end want and get away with it.”

This negligence could quickly become a boomerang for Nagelsmann and the club: “The exemplary professionals take notice and that is poison for the team spirit,” Hamann explained.
