Friends of the man (19) and woman (19) from Cuijk who died on Saturday night in a motorcycle accident in Oeffelt come together on Sunday afternoon at the scene of the accident. Emotions are high and some friends fall into each other’s arms crying. Flowers are laid.
The disbelief is great. Because how could this happen? One of the attendees is Dazzle. Her boyfriend has been friends with the young man who passed away for eight years. “They were inseparable, together every day. It is unbelievable.”
The first bunch of flowers was placed at the scene of the accident by Dazzle and her boyfriend. “I think more people will come with photos and flowers. They just deserve that. They were good people and then something like this happens. That’s just not possible.”
It is not yet clear how the accident happened. Dazzle is also still in the dark. “Shocked by something, not paying attention, or an animal on the road. It could have been anything. I just do not know.”
Marcel Rutten lives near the place where the accident happened. “I happened to be awake and I heard the bike crash. Later I heard the sirens. It’s terrible, don’t wish this on anyone. You’ll just get the message home.”
The accident happened Saturday night. The man and woman were riding a motorcycle together. Things went wrong at the intersection of the N264 and the Urlingsestraat. They ran off the road with their motorcycle and were killed.
