Emilia has specific wishes for the renovation. Bright colors and an “ultra-modern feel” are on the forbidden list. The most important thing is that the spirit and atmosphere of the hundred-year-old house is preserved, the spirit of the era is respected and modern additions do not catch the eye.
Interior designer Maru Hautala lead into the house conjuring up a cozy pink kitchen and a green-toned dining room with floral wallpaper natural to the period.
When Emilia and Tapani open their eyes at the door of the dining room, there is no direct love in store.

Emilia admits that the gray floral wallpaper does not meet her expectations and that she needs to digest what she sees.
– Gray is a difficult color for me and the roses were so dominant, Emilia explains.
The kitchen, on the other hand, gets approval from father and daughter more easily.
– It saddens me that I saw the floral wallpaper first, because this kitchen is so lovely, says Emilia.

The flower wallpaper was already seen a week ago in the paid Ruutu+ service. It sparked a lot of discussion, including Emilia’s With an Instagram account. In the already deleted stories, Emilia said directly that she didn’t like the flower wallpaper.
– I dream of changing it. I have already asked a few interior architects who are familiar with restoration, what kind would be suitable for it. This is being worked on, Emilia said and added that she was otherwise satisfied with the filming experience and the renovation.

Maru Hautala also answered Instagram in his stories to the discussion generated by the episode. He said the wallpaper caused a surprising amount of even anger in the viewers.
