The dismissal of head coach Marco Rose at Borussia Dortmund is said to have left deep scars. Apparently not everything has been clarified with the designated successor Edin Terzic.

On Friday at 12:30 p.m., the proverbial bomb went off: Borussia Dortmund announced the separation from Marco Rose. This is the result of “an intensive season analysis on Thursday,” BVB reported.

According to media reports, the Dortmund “Elephant Round”, consisting of managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke, the outgoing sports director Michael Zorc, his designated successor Sebastian Kehl and advisor Matthias Sammer, as well as Rose himself, had met for several hours. It had become “late” and “sometimes loud”, reported “Sky”.

More details leaked out on Saturday. Watzke in particular was skeptical about further cooperation with Rose, allegedly “for months”, as “Welt” wrote. In the course of the conversation with the bosses, Rose also had doubts.

“Disappointment and frustration” after season analysis at BVB

The “Ruhr News” according to the 45-year-old finally asked the question of confidence. Specifically, he wanted to know whether he would be firmly in the saddle even if the season got off to a bad start.

There was no clear answer to this question from the group. Even the sports management did not promise Rose full support. The end of the cooperation as the best solution for all involved came up on the agenda.

According to the usually well-informed newspaper, the course of the meeting caused “disappointment and frustration” among some of those involved.

BVB: Signing of Edin Terzic not yet perfect

Rose’s designated successor is an old acquaintance: Edin Terzic, former interim coach and current technical director at BVB.

However, according to “RN”, the 39-year-old’s second term as head coach is not yet in the bag. However, Terzic “only have to agree” after the first negotiations.

Further talks are scheduled for Sunday. After that, completion could be reported quickly.
