Dirk Schuster fell ill before the Braunschweig game

Second division soccer team 1. FC Kaiserslautern will have to do without their head coach Dirk Schuster in preparation for the home game on Sunday (1:30 p.m.) against Eintracht Braunschweig.

The 54-year-old is suffering from a flu and has not been able to lead a training session this week. The coach, who played for Braunschweig in the 1990/91 season, is currently being represented by his assistant Sascha Franz and the other coaching staff.

As FCK spokesman Stefan Roßkopf told the German Press Agency, Schuster was examined again by the doctors on Thursday, but has not yet received clearance to return to the training ground. If his state of health allows it, Schuster will be back with the seventh-placed team from Friday.
