At the proposal of Minister Veldkamp of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved 18 ambassadorial appointments. These are only final once the host countries have given their approval. The appointments will take effect from next summer.

The Council of Ministers agreed to the appointment of ambassadors to the following posts:

  • Angola, based in Luanda: Henny de Vries, now Ambassador Islamabad
  • Azerbaijan, based in Baku: Marianne de Jong, now deputy head of post Madrid
  • Bangladesh, based in Dhaka: Joris van Bommel, now deputy chief of post Nairobi
  • Bulgaria, based in Sofia: Arthur den Hartog, now head of policy department of the Main Directorate of Consular and Visa Affairs
  • Finland, based in Helsinki: Simon van der Burg, now Ambassador Sofia
  • Greece, based in Athens: Barbara van Hellemond, now chief director of Postennet
  • Hungary, based in Budapest: Willem van Ee, now ambassador to Rome
  • Italy, based in Rome: Michael Stibbe, now Deputy EU Permanent Representative in Brussels
  • Jordan, based in Amman: Stella Kloth, now Ambassador Muscat
  • Kuwait, based in Kuwait: Wierish Ramsoekh, now chief of post Khartoum
  • Latvia, based in Riga: Carl Peersman, now head of Ukraine at the Europe Directorate
  • Libya, temporarily based in Tunis: Arjan Uilenreef, now head of the Strategic Advisory Unit
  • Mali, based in Bamako: Erik de Feijter, now head of the China unit at the Asia and Oceania directorate
  • Oman, based in Muscat: Maartje Peters, now head of the digital and hybrid threats department at the Security Policy Directorate
  • Slovenia, based in Ljubljana: Janneke Vrijland, now deputy chief of post in Pretoria
  • Sri Lanka, based in Colombo: Wiebe de Boer, now ambassador Dar es Salaam
  • Tanzania, based in Dar es Salaam: Marjo Crompvoets, now Consul General Shanghai
  • Czech Republic, based in Prague: Mina Noor, now head of coordination and national security department of the Security Policy Directorate.

The Council of Ministers agreed to the appointment of two permanent representatives to international organizations:

  • PV UN (Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations), based in Geneva: Erica Schouten, now Special Envoy to Ukraine
  • PV OPCW (Permanent Representative Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons), based in The Hague: Govert Jan Bijl de Vroe, now Ambassador Helsinki.
