At the proposal of Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved 24 ambassadorial appointments. These are not final until the host countries have given their approval. The appointments will take effect next summer.

The Council of Ministers approved the appointment of ambassadors to the following posts:

  • Australia, based in Canberra: Ardi Stoios-Braken, now Deputy Ambassador Jakarta
  • Benin, based in Cotonou: Joris Jurriëns, now head of the Health and Aids department at the Department of Social Development (DSO)
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Sarajevo: Henk van der Dool, now an inspector at the Inspection, Signaling and Guidance Directorate (ISB)
  • China, based in Beijing: André Haspels, now Ambassador Washington
  • Congo, based in Kinshasa: Angèle Samura, now Deputy Ambassador Tunis
  • Egypt, based in Cairo: Peter Mollema, now Director of Communications (COM)
  • Georgia, based in Tbilisi: Meline Arakelian, currently Deputy Ambassador Brussels
  • Ireland, based in Dublin: Maaike van Koldam, now Ambassador Tbilisi
  • India, based in New Delhi: Marisa Gerards, now DG Policy at Ministry of Defense (seconded)
  • Israel, based in Tel Aviv: Marriet Schuurman, now director of the Stability and Humanitarian Aid Department (DSH)
  • Ivory Coast, based in Abidjan: Jeroen Kelderhuis, currently head of the Civil Society and Education Department at the Department of Social Development (DSO)
  • Japan, based in Tokyo: Marten van den Berg, now Ambassador New Delhi
  • Yemen, provisionally based in Amman: Jeannette Seppen, now Head of Mission Luanda at EEAS (seconded)
  • Korea, based in Seoul: Peter van der Vliet, now Ambassador Tokyo
  • Croatia, based in Zagreb: Charlotte van Baak, currently head of the Eastern Department at the Directorate for Europe (DEU)
  • Libya, provisionally based in Tunis: Joost Klarenbeek, now Special Envoy for Migration
  • Moldova, based in Chisinau: Fred Duijn, now working for Taskforce MH17
  • Austria, based in Vienna: Peter Potman, now deputy DG Foreign Economic Relations (DGBEB)
  • Qatar, based in Doha: Ferdinand Lahnstein, now an inspector at the Inspection, Signaling and Guidance Directorate (ISB)
  • Romania, based in Bucharest: Willemijn van Haaften, now flexible ambassador from the TZ flex pool
  • Rwanda, based in Kigali: Joan Wiegman, now Ambassador Dakar
  • Senegal, based in Dakar: Carmen Hagenaars, now head of coordination for aid and reconstruction Ukraine
  • United Arab Emirates, based in Abu Dhabi: Gerard Steeghs, now director of the Directorate of Multilateral Institutions and Human Rights (DMM)
  • South Africa, based in Pretoria: Joanne Doornewaard, now Ambassador Seoul.
