Dior unveils temporary ice palace and café in China

Dior brings a piece of Paris to Lake Songhua Resort in Jilin, China. In addition to a temporary retail space and a Dior café, the French fashion house also built a walk-in Ice Palace modeled after the brand’s flagship store on Avenue Montaigne.

The temporary boutique was conceived by Dior’s womenswear creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri and menswear designer Kim Jones, Dior announced last week. Both skiwear from the luxury brand’s women’s and men’s collections are part of the pop-up range. The DiorAlps women’s wardrobe consists of snowsuits, down jackets and ski pants embellished with classic Dior patterns such as Houndstooth, Diorstar, Mizza or Oblique prints. The men’s collection, on the other hand, relies on collaborations with the Swedish brand POC and the Japanese sportswear manufacturer Descente and, in addition to various sportswear and skiwear, also presents a snowboard in cooperation with AK Ski.

In addition to the fashionable range, Dior also conjures up some of the brand’s classics such as an oversized Lady Dior bag and the Dior Bar Jacket from ice. The sculptures are located in the walk-in image of the brand’s store in Paris, which is also made of ice. Dior is by no means the only brand betting on alpine fashion and winter pop-ups lately, with Gucci, Dior and Armani also currently following the call of the mountains.
