Dimitri Van den Bergh does not comment on a bit of trouble with Michael van Gerwen: ‘I have to take this blow’ | Sport

Dimitri Van den Bergh saw his first appearance ever in the semi-finals of a World Cup darts end in a fiasco. The 28-year-old Belgian succeeded against an unapproachable Michael van Gerwen not even in to grab a set. “What can I say?” he responded to the VTM. “Thank you for this hard lesson and on to next year.”

During the match, a quarrel occurred between the two darters. Van den Bergh is said to have accused Van Gerwen of stamping on the ground when he was ready to throw. ,,Dimitri is good at theatrical behaviour. Then he has come to the wrong address with me.” sneered the Dutchman afterwards.

Van den Bergh decided not to go into it any further. “Let me say this for all the lovely people back home: I am not going to say anything about it. I have tried to be the professional darts player and have not given up mentally. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to show how good I am. I felt good about myself, but unfortunately it didn’t work out on the podium.”

Despite the painful 6-0 loss, Van den Bergh does not go home in a grave mood. ,,In the professional circuit you have to be able to take a hit on the chin. I’m going to try to come back stronger, but that’s step by step. In the end, I can look back on a good World Cup.”
