Dike passages in Delfzijl open again, peak in high water level has passed

The passages in the dike at Delfzijl reopened on Monday morning.

This is reported by the Noorderzijlvest Water Board. The so-called denominations were closed on Sunday evening because high tides were expected at sea. Ultimately, the highest water level of 3.01 meters above NAP was measured last night at 2:35 am, according to the water board.

The dike passages at Delfzijl always close at an expected water level of at least 3 meters above NAP. The protocol prescribes that this happens three hours before the expected high water level.

Traffic that normally passes through the openings was diverted. The port of Delfzijl was also temporarily closed on Sunday evening.
