Difficult rush hour in Ghent: truck through central reservation on E40 in Drongen, towards the coast already 45 minutes of traffic jam | Inland

A truck passed through the central reservation of the E40 in Drongen early this morning. Towards the coast, two lanes, the left and middle lanes, are therefore closed, which has already resulted in a 45-minute traffic jam. “Traffic is almost at a standstill there,” says Peter Bruyninckx, spokesman for the Flemish Traffic Center. “Towards Ghent, only the left lane is closed, motorists lose about 15 minutes there.”

It is feared that the disruption there may continue for a while, because the towing promises to be complex because the vehicle was seriously damaged. The truck also lost some of its cargo of sand, and that cargo has yet to be cleared.

The accident was caused by a blowout on the truck, on which it started spinning and ended up on its side.

The driver of the truck was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
