Didi Hamann reacts to mockery from Jürgen Klopp

After Jürgen Klopp made fun of the TV expert Didi Hamann and his expertise at the press conference before the Champions League duel with Rangers from Glasgow, he has now reacted to the biting words of the Liverpool FC team manager.

Jürgen Klopp isn’t easily disturbed. Actually. After the 7-1 win in the Champions League on Wednesday evening, the Liverpool FC team manager washed down the frustration of the past few weeks with a beer. The day before, Klopp had been much less relaxed when a journalist asked him about a possible missing “spark”.

The quote made the ex-BVB coach visibly suspicious, Klopp asked back: “Who said that?” When the press representative then cited Didi Hamann as the author, the 55-year-old lashed out with irony.

“Oh great! He’s a fantastic source. He’s very respected everywhere,” Klopp shot back, causing a few laughs in the hall at the same time. He did not accept the reply that Hamann had been a Liverpool player for many years: “But that doesn’t give you the right to say what you want – especially if you have no idea.”

Hamann: “It’s obvious that Liverpool have problems”

Not surprisingly, the echo of Klopp’s words did not fade away a day later. On the evening of the Liverpool game, Hamann was asked by “Sky” about the biting statements made by the German coach and replied: “It’s about the matter for me: It’s obvious that there are problems in Liverpool at the moment.”

While the Reds in the premier class are runners-up behind SSC Napoli in the round of 16 after their third win in four games, the Klopp team is currently only tenth in the league – their worst start to the season in ten years.

“If he thinks I’m talking nonsense, then he should say so. I have no problem with that at all, you have to respect other opinions,” Hamann continued. That’s why he “didn’t really understand” Klopp’s statements on Tuesday.

Hamann talks about Liverpool’s crisis

“I don’t think Didi Hamann deserves that you use his words to ask me a question,” Klopp said to the journalist, who he then asked to formulate a question in his own words. Which got him laughing again.

Hamann had rumored about Klopp’s job a few days earlier on “talksport”: “At some point they will have the discussion about the coach and I’m not sure how far away they are from that.” There was also talk of the “spark” that no longer jumps over to the team. The 55-year-old should not have liked that, as has now been shown.

Dietmar Hamann played for Liverpool FC between 1999 and 2006, and the ex-national player now works as a TV expert.
