Princess Diana’s used Jaguar XJ40 car is coming up for auction in Great Britain next month, says BBC.
The car in question is connected to one of Diana’s most famous public appearances in 1994, when she arrived at a party in London wearing a black, so-called “revenge dress”. The incident received widespread attention as it occurred just hours after then- prince charles had publicly admitted their relationship to Camilla Parker-Bowles.
The car is said to have been used by Diana for about three years until her death in 1997. According to auction house The Market, the vehicle has been preserved in good condition and has a significant historical connection to royal events.
According to the auction house, the value of the car is difficult to estimate, but it is expected to go well above the usual price level of a 1994 Jaguar due to its royal history.
– It’s not just about the amount of money, but about how much it means to that person, comments The Market’s CEO Mark Livesey.
The sale starts on June 1 and lasts for a week.
