The DHB women are sensationally in the final of the Handball World Cup. The next big chunk is waiting there.
The German handball players are challenging Olympic champions Norway in the final of the World Championship. The Scandinavians beat co-hosts Netherlands 35:25 (18:14) in the second semi-final and are on the verge of the next title.
The DHB team of national coach Markus Gaugisch goes into the game on Sunday (5.30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) as clear outsiders. But the strong performance in the 29:23 (15:12) win against the Équipe Tricolore gives the team courage for the next possible World Cup sensation. For many years, a German selection has not played as convincingly at a tournament as it does now.

“Everything is possible,” said captain Antje Döll as a declaration of war to the Norwegians, who currently seem almost invincible. The European Championship title followed the Olympic victory last year. On the way to triumph, the team led by two-time world handball player Henny Reistad also prevailed against Germany.
