DHB Cup: Bietigheim meets Metzingen in the final

As of: March 9, 2024 7:28 p.m

The SG BBM Bietigheim and the Tussies Metzingen are moving into the DHB Cup final. Bietigheim won confidently against Thuringia at the Final Four in Stuttgart. Metzingen made things exciting against Oldenburg.

Kelly Dulfer and goal scorer Antje Döll were the key players in SG BBM Bietigheim’s entry into the final of the DHB Cup. Dulfer took responsibility in the decisive phase and regained Bietigheim’s lead. With a total of ten goals, Döll was the top scorer in the Swabians’ 25:21 victory.

Bietigheim played confidently right from the start and quickly gained a two-goal lead (11th). However, Bietigheim was unable to break away decisively and even had to accept the equalizer with a quarter of an hour to go. But then coach Jakob Vestergaard’s team made use of all their experience. Being outnumbered, Bietigheim skilfully let the clock run down and used the last four passes before the “time game” whistle to take the lead again through Kelly Dulfer. Bietigheim gradually expanded this lead in the final phase and in the end deservedly reached the cup final.

Tussies Metzingen win in the seven-meter drama

Metzingen’s goalkeeper Kamilla Kantor is happy about reaching the cup final with Sabrina Troester and Viktoria Woth.

There the Bietigheimers will meet the Tussies Metzingen on Sunday (4:30 p.m.). The team trained by coach Werner Bösch prevailed against VfL Oldenburg in the second semi-final with 31:30 in the seven-meter throw. Backcourt player Rebecca Rott and right winger Dagmara Nocun were Metzinger’s most successful scorers with five goals each.

It was also Nocun who brought Metzingen into the seven-meter throw with her goal to make it 26:26 four seconds before the final siren. There, goalkeeper Kamilla Kantor saved the decisive seven-meter penalty against Lisa Borutta.
