Werder Bremen’s managing director Klaus Filbry could soon move to the supervisory board and thus to the highest body in the German Football League (DFL). Again “table footballreported, the 56-year-old is the favorite to succeed Fredi Bobic, who resigned after leaving Hertha BSC last week.

Filbry, who has been a board member of the DFL since 2015, is named by the specialist magazine as the preferred candidate for the so-called “Team Mittelstand”. The “Team Mittelstand” is an alliance that represents the interests of medium-sized clubs from the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga, including Werder, Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart.

Update 7:14 p.m.: Opposite of “Picture” Filbry said on Tuesday evening: “We are considering sending a candidate into the race who has the support of the group on the one hand and the appropriate skills on the other. We will discuss that internally. This process is still ongoing.” Filbry did not want to comment on whether he would be an option himself.

According to the report, the “Team Mittelstand” meets on Wednesday, the planned meeting in the run-up to the DFL general meeting, which takes place on March 22, is said to have upset other club representatives. The DFL had already announced that it wanted to decide on the Bobic successor at the general meeting in March.
