DFB: U17 European Championship squad with Bundesliga trio around Wanner from FC Bayern

20-strong squad

Coach Marc-Patrick Meister has announced the 20-player DFB squad for the U17 European Championship in Israel. The 41-year-old, who has been in office since last summer and has recorded 13 wins and one draw in 14 games since then, has been called up along with Paul Wanner (16) from FC Bayern, Tom Bischof (16) from TSG Hoffenheim and Sidney Raebiger (17). RB Leipzig also included a trio in the squad, which has already been used in the Bundesliga this season.

“We believe that the squad selected for the finals in Israel best represents the current status quo for our country in 2005. Our players have shown this again and again in their tasks over the past few months, both nationally and internationally,” said Meister. “For the days and weeks of the tournament, our team will of course try everything to get to the highest level together and play a decisive role in the European Championship. We know the team that well now. But this also applies to the time after the tournament: I’m honestly thinking of a few players who were in the team this U17 season and will not be in the Euros for various reasons. They also belong to our vintage and deserve a nomination.”
