DFB team: Felix Nmecha can play for Germany – FIFA agrees

Like Brother Luke

After his brother Lukas (23), Felix Nmecha (21) from VfL Wolfsburg can now play for Germany. The world association FIFA has approved the change of association from England to Germany, the US news agency “AP” reported on Tuesday. Born in Hamburg, whose family emigrated to England in 2007, he has already appeared three times for the German U18 team. After that, the ex-Manchester City professional opted for England, where he played seven games for the U18s and U19s. Now he wants to play again for the DFB selection.

“We would be happy if Felix could play for Germany in the future and we will do everything we can for that,” DFB youth boss Joti Chatzialexiou confirmed to “Bild” in early January. The dressing change was requested. Before Christmas, U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo (42) contacted Wolfsburg’s attacking midfielder and tried to convince him to move to Germany. The DFB officials hope that Nmecha will be able to play for the U21 team for the first time in the next European Championship qualifier at the end of March against Latvia.

In 2019, former U21 coach Stefan Kuntz brought England’s junior international Lukas Nmecha (23) to the DFB. The striker became European champion with the U21s last summer. In mid-November, national coach Hansi Flick made him a senior national player. The brothers play together at VfL Wolfsburg and, if they develop well, could become the twelfth pair of brothers in TM history.
