The past few seasons have not been very successful for Niclas Füllkrug. His future could now lie in Germany again.
National striker Niclas Füllkrug is apparently toying with a return to his former club Werder Bremen. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper. Accordingly, Füllkrug will definitely leave the Italian club AC Milan, to which he was loaned from West Ham United. But the attacker has no future at West Ham itself.
The London club has been relegated from the Premier League. According to the report, with an estimated annual salary of 4.5 million euros, Füllkrug is no longer affordable for the club. That’s why the English planned to sell the 33-year-old cheaply or even give him away for free. Füllkrug’s contract with West Ham actually runs until summer 2028.

Bremen has probably been interested for a long time
Former club Werder Bremen, where Füllkrug already started his professional career and for which he last played between 2019 and 2023, could now benefit from the situation, according to “Bild”. Bremen is said to have been interested in a return campaign last winter, and Füllkrug was also not opposed to it. However, the deal ultimately failed due to the financial conditions.
In the event of an early separation from West Ham, Füllkrug would probably receive a severance payment worth millions. Finances are therefore no longer so important to him when choosing a new employer; instead, he wants to be needed and be able to contribute his qualities. He also wants to move his life back closer to his hometown of Hanover – Bremen is only a good hour’s drive away.
