Almuth Schult only signed in the US city of Kansas City in August. But shortly before Christmas it is clear: the 33-year-old is leaving the club again.
Long-time national goalkeeper Almuth Schult will not continue her career with US club KC Current. The Kansas City team announced Schult’s departure after just four months. “Thank you for everything you have given to this club,” the club wrote: “Good luck in your next chapter.”
The 2016 Olympic champion only moved to KC Current in August of this year and her contract expired after the season. As the starting goalkeeper, the 33-year-old reached the NWSL play-off semi-finals with the club, where her title dream was shattered in mid-November against eventual champions Orlando Pride.
In Germany, the mother of three last played for the second division club Hamburger SV. Schult worked again for ARD this month as a TV expert, including as part of the draw for the Women’s European Championship in Switzerland (July 2 to 27, 2025).
