DFB-Pokal: resounding victories for Wolfsburg and Potsdam – DFB-Pokal (women) – football

The Bundesliga game between the two teams had to be postponed twice in the past few weeks due to corona. Dominique Janssen (13th minute/penalty) and Felicitas Rauch (14th) gave VfL a 2-0 lead in the first quarter of an hour. Joelle Smits (63’/66′), Rebecka Blomqvist (69’/85′) and Joelle Wedemeyer (90’+1′) scored after the break. The Wolfsburg women have recently won the DFB Cup seven times in a row.

Potsdam also meets seven times

Potsdam also celebrated a rifle festival in its 7-0 (5-0) victory at SV Henstedt-Ulzburg. Reaching the semi-finals was marred by the serious injury to Onyinyechi Zogg from Potsdam. “We did really well in the first half”said Chahed, “In the second half the rhythm was a bit off, the injury also contributed a little to that. With Ony Zogg we now have to wait for the investigation.”

In front of 720 spectators in the Beckersberg Stadium, Henstedt-Ulzburg, bottom of the second division, started courageously and scored two chances in the first five minutes. But after that the game developed into a clear affair for the Bundesliga fifth from Potsdam. Dina Orschmann (9th), Merle Barth (18th), Melissa Kössler (23rd), Selina Cerci (25th) and Sophie Weidauer (30th) ensured a clear 5:0 for the favorites at the break.

Five changes at Potsdam in the second half

Given the clear lead, Chahed made five changes at half-time, bringing on winter signings Zogg and Irena Kuznezov, as well as long-term absentee Sara Holmgaard. Zogg suffered a serious injury to his left knee a few minutes after a collision with goalkeeper Anneke Klaas and was unable to continue the game.

Since Turbine had already exhausted the transfer quota, they had to finish the game with ten players. Accordingly, there was a break in the flow of the game. Only in the final phase did Maria Plattner (84th) and Gina Chmielinski (90th) make it 7-0 with their goals.

Leverkusen and Munich also qualified

Bayer Leverkusen and champions Bayern Munich had already reached the semi-finals. Leverkusen won the first division duel at two-time cup finalists SGS Essen 2-1 after extra time, and Bayern had won 9-1 at Carl Zeiss Jena.
