Germany struggled against Finland for a long time in the first half, but then got stronger. This is also reflected in the t-online grades.

The German national team is heading towards the World Cup finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico with a good feeling thanks to the confident 4-0 victory over Finland. “We didn’t allow much and there were a lot of guys up front with a lot of talent,” said captain Joshua Kimmich on ZDF after the game.

According to Kimmich, the DFB team was still able to gain some insight against harmless Finns who posed no offensive threat. “We can defend deep and high. We can score goals from many phases of the game. Be it from standard situations, high pressing and we find solutions when the opponent is deep,” analyzed the Bayern star.

The offensive around double goalscorer Deniz Undav was determined and strong, especially in the second half. While the Stuttgart player excelled with two goals and an assist, another offensive star also did a lot of self-promotion for a place in the starting eleven at the World Cup. You can read who that was here or in the photo show below.

Kimmich himself put his stamp on the game again on Saturday evening against Mainz and played his 109th international match. This means he has passed Jürgen Klinsmann in the DFB’s all-time best list and is now in ninth place. He is only four games behind 2014 world champion Philipp Lahm.

Kimmich: “We are well prepared”

The test match success was the eighth win in a row for the DFB team. “It’s hard to say how far we are. Of course there weren’t such big nations there,” said Kimmich looking back. “But we are well prepared for the tournament,” said the captain confidently.

Before the first World Cup game against Curaçao on June 14th, the DFB team will face the tournament hosts USA next Saturday in Chicago (from 8:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online).
