The DFB is committed to continuity and has extended the contracts with three young coaches that expire in the summer. As the association announced on Monday in Frankfurt/Main, Christian Wörns as well as Hanno Balitsch and Michael Prus will manage the fortunes of the various junior teams beyond the season.

The former national player Wörns has been with the association since summer 2019. He is currently head coach of the U19, with whom he will start the European Championship qualification at the end of March. Balitsch took over the U17 world championship team in the U18 last September. The ex-professional previously worked as an assistant coach for various U teams for seven years. Prus has been the head coach of the DFB youth team for almost eight years now. He is currently looking after the U17s, with whom he will soon be playing in the European Championship qualifiers.

“The fact that we have extended Christian, Hanno and Michael for several years represents our plan for the long-term development of our talents,” said Kai Krüger, department head spokesman for the junior national teams at the DFB.
