In the middle of the cup semi-final, Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khanouss suddenly felt sick. What had to come came. A fellow player apparently found this very entertaining.
Curious moment in the DFB Cup semi-final between VfB Stuttgart and SC Freiburg (2:1): Shortly before the kick-off of extra time, Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss had to vomit in the middle of the pitch. The Moroccan, who had only come on as a substitute in the 63rd minute, had leaned over the grass and spit something out.
Teammate Deniz Undav, who was standing just a few meters away, reacted quickly – pulled his jersey over his nose and called the VfB team doctors for help. Afterwards, the German international striker couldn’t help but laugh and joked with his opponent Lucas Höler about the unusual scene. “Out of the corner of my eye I see that he vomited. He felt sick from the food,” Undav said on Sky after the game.
After El Khannouss was treated by team doctors, Undav took care of what was left on the pitch in his own way. “The referee told me to clean up,” he explained with a smile. His conclusion: “It looked really disgusting. It’s funny when someone pukes in the game.” El Khannouss was then able to continue the game.
