Dynamo is waiting for opponents in the cup – East clash possible
May 25, 2026 – 9:35 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

After the “final day of the amateurs” almost all possible opponents in the DFB Cup have been determined for Dynamo Dresden. Cottbus, Aue and Rostock are among those in the draw.
The 11th place in the Second Bundesliga is leading Dynamo Dresden in new ways. For the first time since 2019, SGD is part of the so-called “professional pot” in the DFB Cup – and therefore has to play away in the first round. After the “final day of the amateurs” on May 23rd, almost all possible opponents have been determined.
In recent years, Dynamo Dresden welcomed many well-known opponents to the Rudolf Harbig Stadium in the first round. In 2020/21 the team knocked HSV out of the DFB Cup 4-1, and in 2022/23 VfB Stuttgart narrowly prevailed (0-1). A year ago, 1. FSV Mainz 05, a European Cup participant, was a guest and also narrowly won 1-0.
Dynamo Dresden: Explosive East duels are looming
In the new season there will be at least one away game before Dynamo can look forward to the home fans as a factor – assuming they progress. Nevertheless, explosive duels in the East are possible: Depending on the luck of the draw, the SGD could play at Sachsenderby near Erzgebirge Aue. Energie Cottbus, Carl Zeiss Jena, Hallesche FC and Hansa Rostock are also in the so-called “amateur pot”.
