DFB captain Gwinn celebrates comeback at Bayern-Sieg

Giulia Gwinn had seriously injured the knee in the European Championship opening game. Now the suffering of the Bayern defender has come to an end.
Giulia Gwinn is back on the pitch: After two and a half months of break, the international celebrated her comeback for FC Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening. In the 4-0 home win against SC Freiburg, the 26-year-old was substituted in the 74th minute.
Last Saturday Gwinn had already been in the squad in the Bundesliga game against Carl Zeiss Jena, but was not yet used there. Bayern coach José Barcala emphasized: “We have to build Giulia carefully.”
The defender injured the DFB team against Poland on the left knee at the start of the European Championship in early July and missed the rest of the tournament. It was an inner ligament injury.
With the clear victory on the fourth matchday, the Bayern women Freiburg replaced at the top of the table. Vanessa Gilles (16th minute), Lena Oberdorf (63.), Lea Schüller (80th) and Klara Bühl (90th) scored the goals for the champions.
