A motorist was seriously injured on Sunday evening in an accident on the N267 between Veen and Andel. The victim left the road, crashed into a tree and fell over. The car ended up upside down on the side of the road.
The accident happened around six o’clock. Both sides of the road were littered with debris. The engine block, among other things, was thrown from the car.
The emergency services responded en masse. An air ambulance was also called and landed in an adjacent meadow. According to police, the driver suffered serious injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
The police do not yet want to say anything about the identity of the victim. It is also not clear whether it is a man or a woman.
How the accident happened is under investigation. The road is closed.
